New Delhi: What better gift could have been given to Mayur Vihar Phase 1 extension residents than an exclusive all women police assistance booth on Women’s Day falling on March 8, which is the brainchild of Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana who has been the front runner in giving a lot of opportunities to women in the police force to show their mettle at work.
While appreciating the Mayur Vihar ACP Hari Singh who spent days in identifying the spot for the police post, divison incharge SI Dinesh Tyagi said that the police booth has been set up almost opposite to two schools, both co-ed, and at a stone’s throw near the local upbeat market. The all women post will serve as a deterrent to the eve teasers and gold chain snatchers who get activated now and then.
The booth will be inaugurated by Chhaya Sharma, Joint Commissioner of Police. It may be recalled that she had earned laurels in nabbing the Nirbhaya perperators. Others attending the function will including top police officers including Priyanka Kashyap.
Girls in the area are very happy as they feel that it will control the incidents of monbiule snatching. Mr Dinesh Dhobal , running as chemist shop in the market near the new all women police assistance booth said that it is a big relief and safety from vagabonds and goondaism. “The local police has done a good job,” he added.
